Bishop Robert Dean maintains an active role in serving on several boards and committees as well as serving his Ecclesiastical duties. He’s involved in church planting, and as well helping 23 Pastors out of his ministry to become Pastors. He’s involved in community organizing, advocacy, and organizational counseling as well as political leadership. Bishop Dean attended Ferris State College and has Doctorate Degrees in Theology and an earned degree from the Michigan Political Leadership Program. Bishop Dean served as President of the Grand Rapids school board, served as the 3rd Ward City Commissioner in Grand Rapids, and served the State of Michigan in the 75th District of the House of Representatives.  Bishop Dean regularly speaks to Civic, Political and Faith based groups giving insight into spiritual and social change.    

Bishop Dean was ordained an elder in 1975 by Bishop John Seth Bailey. Bishop Dean serves locally as Senior Pastor of New Life Church of God in Christ for 42 years. He also serves as the District Superintendent, Administrative Assistant and as Chairman of Finance for 3rd Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of SW Michigan under Bishop Samuel Duncan Jr. Within the larger denomination, in 1983 Dr. Dean began to serve in the National Adjutancy. Bishop Dean has been married to Evangelist Betty Dean for 48 years, they have 2 sons, 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.
